Mountain Cottage

Not many cottages can boast having their very own mountain in the back garden! Set in a breathtaking, remote location (although on the Peninsula nothing is very far away), Mountain Cottage has been thoughtfully restored and beautifully finished.

There is plenty to explore in this unspoilt part of North Wales or simply sit and enjoy the views from this hillside retreat. The super swish new extension has it's own entrance with large bedroom and en-suite bathroom.

About the Cottage

Mountain Cottage enjoys a secluded sheltered mountain setting at some 900ft, overlooking the magnificent landscape of Snowdonia, the peaks of mid-Wales and coastline of Cardigan Bay - it really doesn't get any better than this!

The cottage has been lovingly rebuilt from a humble ruin, ensuring all the windows now make the very best of the views.

Inside, the cottage is incredibly cosy and welcoming, with rustic style and exposed stone walls, huge fireplace, roaring wood burning stove and Rayburn, as well as a generous scattering of stylish Melin Tregwynt blankets and throws.

The large open plan, double storey living area is the hub of the house, with a gorgeous sofa topped with a Welsh Blanket and huge inglenook fireplace that's centre stage beneath a trussed and beamed roof.

The newly refurbished annex has an open plan living/sleeping area with en-suite bathroom.

The farmhouse table is perfect for candlelight suppers or lazy lunches, with great views across the neighbouring mountains from the well placed windows.

The cottage has a contemporary timber fitted kitchen with a stable door looking south out to sea across to Cardigan Bay.

Cooking here is a pleasure and you will find all the pots and pans you need along with a Rayburn to churn out the heat. There is also an electric oven, ceramic hob, fridge, microwave, dishwasher and mini washing machine.

The cottage is supplied with soft water by a private spring.

The master bedroom has a super king size bed with crisp bedlinen, soft duvet, beautiful Welsh blankets and thick bedspreads included.

The second bedroom sits on the cosy beamed mezzanine above the  living room. There is a king size bed, cosy duvets and more of those wonderful blankets and throws.

The second bedroom sits on the cosy, beamed mezzanine above the living room (there's a discreet curtain for privacy), with king size bed complete with the cosiest of duvets, yet more throws and those lovely Melin Tregwynt blankets.

Downstairs is a well heated, comfortable bathroom with bath, basin and loo.

The new super swish annex has it's own entrance with a spacious living/bedroom and smart bathroom with a bath with shower over. The log burning stove adds to the charm and seclusion.  This additional room is perfect for an "all ages" holiday if one or two of the guests are looking for that little bit of privacy.

Linen and towels are provided.   Guests need to bring their own beach towels.

Wi-fi is provided and mobile phone network coverage is reasonable, available from GSM and 3G/4G signal access points.

Children of all ages are very welcome to stay with you at the cottage, however please note that we are not able to provide a cot or highchair.

Unfortunately pets are not able to stay at the cottage.

Smoking is not permitted inside the cottage.

Things to Do

With more than 100 miles of largely undiscovered coastline and the stunning Snowdonia National Park within easy reach, the Lleyn Peninsula is a fabulous base for an active family holiday.

There are long stretches of sand to be found on the southern beaches, isolated crags and surfers bays on the northern coastline. It’s utter bliss for nature lovers, with seals a fairly regular sight for walkers along the coast path.

When you've tired of the beaches then head off to the hills for a whole new perspective on the countryside. There are "starter" hills on the Peninsula itself, or Snowdonia just a short drive away for summits to shout about...and a whole new way to tire out the children!
